An incredible tribute to my former staff member Asal Sayas. Even in the face of a cancer diagnosis, she worked tirelessly for more federal research dollars and earlier diagnoses to combat the rise of this disease. She made a real difference and never stopped fighting for others. washingtonpost.com/obituarie…

No matter your genetic history, doctors recommend EVERYONE 45 and older get screened. Thanks for reminding us, @katiecouric.
As @katiecouric would say, “Screens, not genes.” Everyone who is 45 and older should schedule regular screenings. #LeadFromBehind

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is proud to have worked with U.S. Representatives @RepHaleyStevens (D-MI) and @RepTimBurchett (R-TN) in introducing the Colorectal Cancer Early Detection Act, bipartisan legislation to expand awareness, screening, and early detection of colorectal cancer among individuals under 45. Colorectal cancer is rising at alarming rates in young people, making early detection more important than ever. Together, we're working to change that. Congress is planning votes TODAY on a Continuing Resolution (CR) that proposes dramatic cuts to critical cancer research. The bill slashes research funding by 57% for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) at the Department of Defense. That is an $859 million loss in high-impact cancer research that saves lives. Please call your House Representative and urge them to vote protect the CDMRP.
