The Small Business Recovery Fund, was established in 2021 to help small businesses affected by COVID-19 to recover. The fund has disbursed over UGX 82.1 billion to more than 4,031 small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Government, through @MSCuganda has introduced a wealth fund to expand access to affordable working capital for market vendors and urban informal operators.
The initiative is currently being piloted in six Kampala Metropolitan markets, St. Balikudembe (Owino), Nakawa, Kalerwe, Busega, Nakasero, and Ggaba providing loans at a competitive 8% annual interest rate.

I am honoured to have joined President @KagutaMuseveni today for the signing of a landmark agreement between @UG_Airlines and @Boeing for the acquisition of 10 new aircraft. This marks a major step in expanding Uganda’s aviation capacity and strengthening global connectivity.
The fleet expansion, covering both passenger and cargo aircraft, will boost trade, tourism, and investment, and position Uganda as a key aviation hub in the region.
Key reforms for the Financial Year 2027/25 budget include:
1️⃣Stronger budget discipline, with Accounting Officers required to sign accountability charters.
2️⃣Tougher anti-corruption measures through procurement reforms, digitisation, audits & transparency.
3️⃣Continued enforcement of trade order & traffic discipline.
4️⃣Improved governance and performance of state-owned enterprises.
5️⃣Cutting wasteful government expenditure, including suspending most state-funded public holiday celebrations.
6️⃣Centralising counterpart funding for priority projects under the Treasury.
7️⃣Implementing a contributory public service pension scheme to improve long-term sustainability.
