The size control works because, in our active droplets, influx of droplet materials scales with the droplet's surface area. In contrast, the droplet material efflux scales with volume.
That's why there is only one stable droplet size—small droplets shrink, and large ones grow.

Our work on a biophysical assay development at Boxer Lab is out in Analytical Chemistry:

Here we developed a cell-free method to measure viral infectivity and the efficiency of endosomal escape of viral contents.
