Happy #Worldbreastfeedinginpublicday! Here's to comfortable & welcoming public spaces for breastfeeding. We can do better than a chair next to a nappy bin smelling of shit (been there, done that!). I wrote a thing. medium.com/@kate.louise.tobi…

We have a new publication out today that looks at what the 2022 census can tell us about people living in deprived areas, and how it's changed since 2011.

💰Coerced debt 💰 Our National Policy Lead on Economic Abuse, Dr Jenn Glinski, shares more about what coerced debt is in this short video. We want to ensure financial institutions and public sector organisations where debt might be accrued in a victim-survivor’s name without their knowledge or consent understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and respond in a way that puts the needs and rights of those who have experienced abuse at the forefront. Donate to our #FreedomShouldntCost campaign today to help us raise the profile of economic abuse with those organisations and every penny you donate will be generously matched by the Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund: bit.ly/4gVZtLk #EndEconomicAbuse

We expect women to control their own abuse and then stigmatise them as “weak” or “too afraid” when they fail to magic up choices that solve no money and no safety. Instead of “Why doesn’t she just leave?” we should ask “Why do we let this go on?” #FreedomShouldntCost
📢Stop asking ‘Why doesn’t she just leave?’ 📢 How can we ask women to uproot themselves, their children and their lives when they have no money, no income and no access to immediate support? And why should we expect them to? Economic abuse further constrains the already very limited choices women have when it comes to separating from an abuser. It can make women reliant on abusers for a roof over their head and food on their table. And it presents them with the impossible choice between staying and continuing to experience abuse, or leaving and facing poverty and destitution for themselves and their children. This is not the way things should be. Empower our work around economic abuse because #FreedomShouldntCost. Donate today and your donation will be generously matched by the Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund, so your money will go twice as far: bit.ly/4gVZtLk

Loneliness at work has become an epidemic, leading to workplace stress, people being absent & leaving their jobs. New research has highlighted multiple myths that lead to many leaders making the workplace loneliness situation worse. Myths: 1) Loneliness can be solved by coming back to the office 2) Teams will solve loneliness 3) Lonely people are needier socially than others at work 4) Loneliness is a personal problem, not an organisational problem. Practical actions that leaders can take to reduce work loneliness include measuring loneliness, designing slack in workflows, creating a culture of connection, building socialising into the rhythm of work & maximising each work mode (remote or f2f) for connection. hbr.org/2024/11/were-still-l…. I am so thrilled to see this being set up, children themselves are not the only people who need support when a child comes into contact with the justice system, children's hearing or indeed other services. A parenting forum to share experiences and information is a positive move.
Our friends at @CYCJScotland are hosting a forum for parents who have children involved with the Children's Hearing or justice system. The Parenting Forum is a non-judgemental space for those looking for information and support 💙 To learn more, email cycj@strath.ac.uk ✉️
