Agreed. The Kosovo Specialist Chamber's convictions distort the facts of Kosovo's decade-long struggle against the genocidal regime of Slobodan Milosevic, in which the current Serbian President Vucic, had a leading role. Why did the Court not investigate Serbia's crimes in 1998?
🇽🇰 Kosova Prime Minister Albin Kurti on the indictment by the Kosova Specialist Chamber’s Special Prosecutor’s Office in The Hague against former Kosova Liberation Army (UÇK/KLA) officials, including former President/Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi and former Speaker of Parliament Kadri Veseli, to 45 years in prison for crimes against humanity and war crimes — without solid evidence:
„The moral and historical essence of our liberation war lies in the survival and dignity of the people.
The KLA was the bearer of a just, preservative, and defensive struggle. It unfolded under the conditions of brutal occupation, when the violence of apartheid was turning into state-sponsored genocide.
Any attempt to detach individual actions from this historical and political context risks distorting the truth and the meaning of that war.
We never had a plan to exterminate any other people or civilians. The current request of the Prosecution in The Hague for sentences of 45 years of imprisonment for each of the accused leaders of the KLA is not based on any internationally accepted sentencing standard. It completely ignores the context of the war in Kosova and seeks to place this case in a legal vacuum, separating actions from the reality of a liberation war.
The Republic of Kosova remains unwavering in its conviction that the KLA waged a just and anti-colonial liberation struggle. The institutions of Kosova will continue to defend the factual and historical truth, the value and dignity of the struggle for freedom, as well as the fundamental principles of justice, opposing any attempt to distort them.“
