"Book!" has started to garner laurels from various film festivals and we couldn't be any more grateful! Looking forward to what's in store for little "Pio" but for now, we hope you enjoy this animated short. The voice over was performed by my daughter at age 6 back in 2009. The files were kept on a hard drive that spent the next 13 years in a desk drawer. In 2022 I accidentally found them during an unrelated file search and promised myself to finish what I had started. With the help of @munkduane (musical score) and @MarisaTorresArt (background art) I was able to complete the animation on March 25, 2024. The moral to this story; go search your old hard drives! You never know what you'll find!

Inspired by @Lauriesteinart this week to compare Ai to "Hi" (Human Intelligence). Original Illustration by @peterhreynolds who graciously let me bring his characters to life using my favorite animation application; @MohoAnimation All the brushes you see here are vector based. Moho provides the option to add a line boil effect as well as control the width of each vector point individually. There's also a Magnet tool that allows you to manipulate multiple vector points with the strokes of your stylus. Best part of working with Moho vectors is, they are predictable and stable - unlike the previous competing software I have been using. Moho's rigging system is also very powerful and stable. At no point during the process of this animation did Moho feel slow or sluggish. In fact, the application felt light and nimble the entire time! I've been trying to find the time to dive into new animation software. I've been playing with @MohoAnimation So I borrowed a great little character that my friend @Lauriesteinart created. With any new technology comes questions and after decades of teaching similar tools, I found myself on the opposite side of the process. So I reached out to my talented and gracious friend @McCoyBuck and asked him for a little advice. Not only did he respond quickly, he also recorded an hour long video showing me how he would approach this character rig with tips along the way. That was the huge "AHA!" moment I was looking for.
