I often find that this is a common problem amongst designers. We’ve been taught about the power of storytelling, so when presenting to executives we go into detail about all the little steps we made to get to the final outcome, often missing the essence of the problem we solved.
1) Essence first. Not story. Not analogy
Most people get seduced by great analogies & exciting stories.
Clear thinkers don’t *form* their thinking via analogies. They identify the essence of the issue, in their specific context. Then, they use analogies as one of their inputs.
