ALT 1. Check for danger and a response. 2. Call 999 for help. 3. Check the person's breathing by looking, listening, and feeling for chest movement.
ALT 4. Start chest compressions, the 999 call handler will help you. 5. Get a defib (if you can). The 999 call handler will tell you where the closest one is. If you are alone, do not leave to go get a defib.
ALT 6. If you have a defib, switch it on and follow the instructions.
7. Continue CPR until: the defib asks you to pause to analyse heart rhythm, the ambulance service arrives and takes over, the person shows signs of life.
