Most important thing I’ve learned as an executive is brevity. Brevity. Brevity. Brevity. Some of the smartest people can really distill thoughts in a clear and concise manner.

A new gene-editing strategy from #HHMIInvestigator Michel Nussenzweig's lab could teach the immune system to produce its own therapeutic antibodies. Successful so far in mice, the approach may lead to treatments for HIV, cancer, metabolic disease, & more: bit.ly/4tkQvfo

Reposting this just to say: the CDC recommends a second 2025-2026 COVID booster for elderly and/or immunocompromised people… optimally 6 months after your last booster, but as early as 3 months. Keep your beloved older grandmas protected by reminding them!

I wanna post the video of my grandma getting her COVID-19 vaccine, but she's wearing a @DukeU sweater, and ... ... TARRRRRRRRRRR So this tweet serves to say: get your grandmas vaccinated, and also, if you pray, send one up to my grandma who is a delusional Duke fan.

Ie. If they got boosted in September, they could get another booster now or optimally March. Remember, we generally have 2 major COVID waves… Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer.

Academia isn't a calling—it's a job. Stop glorifying burnout. Clock in, do great work, clock out. Your worth isn't measured in unpaid overtime

It's funny. Defenders of the academy often say we need the universities precisely because they don't function like for-profit corporations.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT📣: I haven’t been this excited to be part of something new in 15 years… Thrilled to reveal the passion project I’ve been working on for the past year and a half!🙀🥳 It started from my frustration with the depressing effect that the current publishing system has on the well-being of myself, my team, and pretty much every scientist I know (maybe you’ve noticed from my stupid jokes… :) I was exhausted of dealing with the huge delays, reviewers that can be abusive, and how arbitrary it all is. Unfortunately, the most important factors are often WHO your reviewers are and who YOU are... It’s clear we need alternatives or at least ways to improve the situation. So, together with a really special and talented team we worked to develop this idea into “qed” a platform where you can get CONSTRUCTIVE feedback on your own work or CRITICALLY assess other people’s papers. It can be a real difference maker if many of you join us (thousands have tried it already, but today we release a NEW and much stronger version ;) Let’s harness qed to put the power back in the scientists’ hands, to do, to read & to publish science on our own terms. I’m dying for you to TRY IT, and it’s very simple - just drop a paper (the link to the website is in the replies👇) - it’s completely secure, private, and free, and you get results fast. Please show your support, SHARE, tell your friends, and let’s be the revolution 🫵!

Things I count on: - My grandma to pray for me. - My mom to be optimistic for me. - My dad to “ride at dawn” for me. Over time, I’ve learned when each team player I need most. Now, in this moment, I need my daddy.

The @ChanZuckerberg meeting has unlocked a new scientific meeting code: everyone met at the gym 1 hour before breakfast. It’s soooo motivating and fun! Today, we try to take a picture BEFORE we sweat.

Last week was one of the worst professional weeks I’ve ever had. So, I was frozen and unproductive. My lab family held me down in many ways. My lab manager took things off my plate; Postdocs helped see a grant to the finish line. @KizzyPhD_Lab is family. Thank God for that.

I never thought I would admit this, but scientific writing is becoming second nature now. I’ve always preferred more poetic narrative writing instead.
