If you're looking for a grounded perspective on how coding has changed and how you should think about managing folks who are managing agents who code... then this essay from @vincent_builds is what you should sit down and read over the weekend. One of the many takeaways for me was to stop thinking about merging as the end of the agentic pipeline, but how your specific coding context™ is useful past it.
One of our senior engineers writes about 1% of his code by hand. Another tried going back to typing it out and gave up. Nine months ago, Vincent Quigley (@vincent_builds) and his team at Sanity went AI-first. His new essay is a field report on what actually changed: → Coding has moved through four generations: assembly, high-level languages, frameworks cloud, and now AI-first development. Each one raised the abstraction. This one moves the job from implementation to intent. → The pipeline reorganized around agents: shape context, write the product spec, let the agent iterate, review like you mean it, ship, monitor. → The uncomfortable parts made it in too: roughly $2,000 a month in AI spend, PRs capped near 500 lines so humans can still review them, and days that feel like 2.5 days of work in one. Less coding. More orchestration. Read the essay: sanity.io/blog/we-dont-write…

I need an app with the type of requirements that makes a ton of AI builders engage with this post so I can boost my reach. Anyone building this?

You can set up an base model (here gpt-neox-20b, all shoggoth, all the time) and have Opus use it to infuse its own anemic writing with some real crazy. Suprisingly Opus here does have a real appreciation of what its otherwise missing out on and just can't bring itself to do. Also: McDonalds line is pretty great.

the new outfits for Norwegian team seems a bit impractical for playing soccer, but hey those shields might do good in defense

if folks cared as much about user research as they do for evals for non-deterministic users we'd be in a pretty great place.

So @theo basically did a spiritual-cousin-speed-run of the good old pre-cloud Ruby on Rails blog demo at @CascadiaJS today. (And to Theo's point, DHH never actually deployed the thing.) youtube.com/watch?v=Gzj723Lk…

We're running a builder challenge together with @Replit! We want to see what you build when structured content does real work. The setup: Sanity's MCP server running in Replit. Your job: build an app where the content model is the interesting engineering decision. A recipe app that rewrites the shopping list when you change servings. A support agent that only answers questions about your actual product docs. Something that queries your content like a database and returns something actually useful to a real user. Top builds win Replit and Sanity credits, custom skateboards, 8Bitdo keyboards, and more! Submissions close June 14. Enter here 👉 sanity-replit-buildathon.rep…

Life hack that @espen_codes taught me years ago: Always align the back of the lid with the seam on your coffee cup. This will limit leaks. You’re welcome.

Some of us are old enough to remember deploying docker containers on zeit’s `now`.
Run Docker inside Vercel Sandbox. ▪︎ Build and run containers in full isolation ▪︎ Persist installs and images across sessions ▪︎ Run databases, test suites, or full apps vercel.com/changelog/run-doc…
