I've been trying to contact @expedia's customer service line for days about a trip scheduled this Friday but both phone lines and virtual chat are down. *Very frustrating*

Because Trump ridiculed my reputation, laughed at my looks, & dragged me through the mud, after 26 years, ELLE fired me. I don't blame Elle. It was the great honor of my life writing "Ask E. Jean." I blame @realdonaldtrump. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Freelance journalism is under attack. Today, @ASJAhq and @NPPA sued the state of CA in federal court to stop #AB5 from devastating freelance journalism. No state can ignore the First Amendment. #freedomtofreelance asja.org/About-ASJA/Independ…

Most people’s families yell about politics during dinner. Mine had a delightful conversation about @the_wing. Happy Thanksgiving, y’all 💕

Sadly, I can now confirm that due to #AB5, I will no longer be able to continue "Chem Tales" for @SFWeekly on a weekly basis in 2020. I've written it every week for over three years. The paper is losing quality content and I'm losing my anchor gig. #AltWeekliesForever

A big thank you to @LorenaSGonzalez for meeting with a small, but mighty, group of fellow freelance journalists. Looking forward to continuing the positive and productive conversation about #AB5 @LorenaAD80

This law is so harmful. Fingers crossed that this changes soon.

Replying to @LorenaSGonzalez
I love being a freelancer and #AB5 is slated to take business from me and my fellow freelancers. @LorenaS and @GavinNewsom please consider full-exemption for journalists. Because a 35 byline limit is not going to cut it.

Once again, @LorenaSGonzalez misses how #AB5 hurts freelancers. This won’t force the employers to hire writers as employees. It’ll just make them open up their freelancer pool and cut down on the work freelancers can do in a year.
The publisher must after 35 submissions either hire the writer as an employee or not use their freelance services any longer. The burden is on the company. If the company violates the law, they’re at fault... not the writer.

Can someone please explain to me why fishermen, manicurists, and graphic designers are exempt from #AB5 yet freelance journalists aren't? Freelancers are an integral part of the media industry. @LorenaSGonzalez

More journalists lost jobs last yr than coal miners, but somehow how CA lawmakers are unaware of the end-stage state of the industry; that it’s only propped up by freelancers; that our wages have plummeted. #AB5 is making life harder for freelancers not easier/more equitable.
Oh look at that⬇️ You mean there are still actual jobs in journalism (not just freelance opportunities?) -Lets keep it that way!
