You have a Java web server in production that got stuck: stopped writing logs and didn't answer to http requests. How would you investigate?

Today, Uber is a $140B company with more than 6 million drivers. But in the early days, we had to overcome the same chicken and egg problem many startups face: Without drivers ➡️ riders couldn’t get a car And without riders ➡️drivers couldn’t make $ Here’s how we solved it:

Fun story about perceptions of scale. GitHub ran VERY lean on infra for a long time. In 2013, visited Baidu HQ in Beijing, and met with an infra team. They asked “so how many servers do you run?” We said “about 150?” & they said “oh cool 150,000. Decent.” No no lol. 150!

Apple Pay is a complex service, but it's not too hard to implement, and for the end user it's the best way to pay. This is the best article I've written thus far. I think my writing is improving finally. Let me know what you think 🔗⬇️

When you `fetch` and don't read the response body (E.g. if you only care about the http status code): - Browser: It's fine - Node.js: Memory leak - Cloudflare worker: You hold on to one request-concurrency slot indefinitely and if you do it 6 times you are deadlocked How do Deno and Bun behave?

If I had to start from zero with no marketing skills, here is how I would make my first $ online: 1️⃣ Make a free app that solves a simple problem 2️⃣ Promote it on directories 3️⃣ If the app is decent I should get at least a few users 4️⃣ Talk to them, see if they have other problems I can solve 5️⃣ Find one that's easy, offer to solve it for $10 as a feature in your app Forget about scalability Forget about making a living from it The goal is to get familiar with solving problems and get a small win. Then rinse and repeat with other features/apps, eventually you'll find bigger problems you can solve for more $

I figured out a playbook to make products grow REALLY fast in 2024 (especially SaaS) It's the same playbook that Alex Hormozi is using and why he wrote the BIGGEST check of his LIFE last week into a startup called Skool Silicon Valley is sleeping on this My 3 realizations:
