🎙️Listen to our @krys_springer from the Land use and Climate team talking about agricultural emissions trading system with @SamJamesMorgan in the latest @Foresight_CE podcast 👇 ✅ Check our latest report with @InfoTrinomics @EcologicBerlin @Umwelt_AT 👇 ieep.eu/publications/applyin…
In today’s episode of The Jolt, @SamJamesMorgan looks at whether #carbonpricing can be applied to agriculture, plus the United States spends big on rural renewables. Download the app to listen now on iPhone: apps.apple.com/us/app/foresi… or Android: play.google.com/store/apps/d…. The big story today: Agriculture is generally exempt from carbon pricing. But as emissions trading systems expand and policymakers get serious about reducing greenhouse gases, farming’s protected status may soon end. Talks are already underway about how best to price agricultural emissions. Krystyna Springer from the Institute for European Environmental Policy (@IEEP_eu) joins The Jolt to explain what kind of factors those talks will have to consider. “The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and other existing policies need to be aligned with the objectives that an ETS sets out to meet,” Krystyna Springer, Senior Policy Analyst, Land Use and Climate, IEEP

in reassuring news for the biggest party in EU parliament, the #restorenature law has just been demoted as the top threat to global food security now topped by climate crisis-induced risk of synchronised harvest failures, underestimated by the newest generation of models
'Risks of synchronized low yields are underestimated in climate and crop model projections' our new paper in @NatureComms. We find model biases in #ExtremeHeat linked to large waves in the #Jetstream, a major driver of recent record breaking #HeatWaves. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
