Why East means only "West Bengal". You are a member of EAC of Prime Minister of India not CM of WB.
"The Renaissance Required in West Bengal" - my article in today's New Indian Express where I argue that Bengal's economic revival depends on recapturing its civilizational identity after decades of deliberate manipulation. As the civilizational roots of Bengalis were deliberately chipped away, it left an intellectual and socio-cultural vacuum. The sneering of “aanteil” intellectuals cannot fill the emptiness. This is the source of Bengal’s political anarchism, mindless trade unionism, militant student activism and deadwood intellectualism; all merely trying to fill that hole in the heart. As an aside, a similar story can be told of another state - Punjab, the other state that was Partitioned. newindianexpress.com/opinion…

#Map shows the percentage growth of population in India between 1971 and 2011 at district level (Census) So many stories! Natural population growth causes higher growth rates in many areas. But it is not just that. Rural-urban migration has also resulted in growth in certain urban regions but in some of the cities, the core urban area has shown a relative lack of growth as most of the growth happens in peripheries.

Census data since 1872 shows that all regions of India grew briskly in terms of population at different points of time, with the South growing faster till 1951, and North India picking up pace after that.
This is the nub of the concerns. It cannot be ignored.

Any causal connection between family planning and population control in India is at best tenuous, mainly because when family planning assumed importance in the 1960s, some southern states had already grown at a rapid pace and were at or near their peak population growth rates.

State Partners for SEMICON 2025 India, for those wondering why Bihar is not getting any of those projects. Politics aside, there seems to be a simple lack of participation from the Bihar state government.
