One of the most frustrating (and honestly, annoying) things about the online wellness space right now is how moralistic it’s becoming— especially around alcohol.
Zero alcohol is a personal choice. Not a virtue. Turning it into an identity, or judging others for moderation, helps no one.
In real life, some of the healthiest and longest-living people I’ve ever met, including many patients, enjoy the occasional drink— often socially, joyfully, and without guilt. Many even attribute their long, healthy life to enjoying their regular tipple!
In years of medicine, I’ve seen far more harm from rigidity, guilt, and joyless living than from occasional, moderate alcohol intake.
Health isn’t built on puritanism or zealotry.
It’s built on balance, context, and sustainability.
Nothing wrong with a drink— especially on a good night out.
On that note, cheers to all this Saturday evening!🍷
