as wonderful as this is (truly), the problem w/ this framing is that Sudanese ppl somehow have to "redeem" themselves b/c an unwell or diabolical person committed a crime. his identity would've been irrelevant if he was white, & these acts of kindness would be framed differently.
As Belfast burned this week, a group of women - including some from Sudan - organised to evacuate threatened families from their home. They did it without any help from the state.
