One of my financial accounts got hacked today. Probably a result of the massive National Public Data breach. The would-be crooks tried to redeem my rewards points. Check those if you get any credit card account alerts.

Seemingly inconsequential actions matter. Words matter. Social media is incredibly effective in spreading information. The algorithms are very complex. Think before you post/like/comment/share. Help stop the flow of #misinformation. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/-ju…

The teams that support wild land firefighters are tapped out. All those resources are committed.
🚨How do we know the wildfire situation in the United States has boiled over…? #cafire #idfire #wafire #orfire #mtfire In a meeting with the Oregon Department of Forestry today they announced there are no more Incident Management Teams left available in the country, no more shower units, no more caterers… There are reports that a fire camp burned over in Idaho yesterday, luckily no injuries have been reported. Logistical issues are stacking up with Caches running out of supplies and transport issues as well. I cover all of this on tomorrow’s Substack podcast episode. And now there are threats for a Government shutdown and seasonal layoffs… Above is the Lava Fire, which ripped 11.4 miles yesterday. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this footage from Idaho.

We lose the habit of reading because we’re afraid of wasting our time. We think we need to be preoccupied and productive at all times. But people are not machines, and you are nourished by naps and fiction and basking in sunlight, no less than by food and drink.

The prospect of students using AI to write essays should alarm everyone. The purpose of education isn’t to pass exams, it’s to become someone who can read deeply, who can communicate, who can think. We mustn’t farm out our minds to machines.

Not all heroes wear capes. These people are doing the work of defending one of the core democratic principles: Freedom to think, read, and advocate for oneself. Godspeed, friends! #Freadom

My school is using the book β€œ I am one” as a school theme. I made this for the hallway by the library. Got a big thumbs up from my principal!

If you are a Christian and you are mocking Gus Walz, a young man who is neurodivergent and who loves his father, consider this: You might be the ONLY Bible anyone will ever read. Mocking people with disabilities is not just poor form - it's flat out wrong.
