California is one of the most dynamic places on the planet. But it is a case study in how a rich society can spend more and more while producing less and less of what its ordinary citizens need. My take:

A significant indication of how much voters in LA are fed up with the status quo: the incumbent city attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto (whose time in office has been marred by controversy), is headed for defeat.

Danny Heil has been a co-author, collaborator, and colleague @HooverInst and will be a fantastic asset to new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh as he settles in to his work there.

The WHO has been compromised for many years. Their role in doing the CCP's bidding during COVID is well documented. And, so, we shouldn't be blamed for our skepticism about how they handle outbreaks now. Glad to see we're finally doing something about it.

Congratulations to our next Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Kevin Warsh who was confirmed today by the U.S. Senate. I have known Kevin for most of his adult life. I first met him as a student in my international politics class at Stanford University, and it was clear even then that he was exceptional. Kevin is uniquely suited to serve at this moment. He is battle-tested, principled, and brings the breadth of judgment this role demands. Just as important, he understands how deeply international relations and monetary policy are intertwined - a reality that will only grow more consequential in the years ahead. He is the right person at the right time. On behalf of his friends and colleagues at the Hoover Institution, we wish him well.
