Comparative marsupial ASIP analysis identified accelerated evolution in dasyurids (carnivorous marsupials), with loss of functional ASIP in Tasmanian devils which is responsible for their striking black coat colour (also see Hartley et al: rdcu.be/dQCrR)

Brushtail possums are the native mammal most likely to be in human contact in Australia and Aotearoa/NZ - protected in native Oz, but a pest in NZ. We sequenced their genes and found many surprises - read rdcu.be/doL74 or watch youtu.be/nAdgClBkiVM for more.....
