We were all astonished to learn that when sperm whales give birth, they get help from their friends.
I have also observed similar behavior in dairy cows. It was commonly believed that cows isolate themselves to give birth to their calves, but I have witnessed new mothers receiving a lot of help from their friends.
Given that we know dairy cows form intense friendships with each other, it makes sense for them to support one another during this important time.
