Gareth's mathematics resources are unparalleled in their ability to develop children's mathematical capabilities, not to mention how good value they are for what schools get. Every school should consider these (and the resources for older pupils). โฌ‡๏ธ
I See Reasoning for Y1 and Y2 is out now! 757 images, questions and tasks for inspiring mathematical thinking for children in KS1: iseemaths.myshopify.com/collโ€ฆ I hope it gives you and your children many amazing classroom moments ๐Ÿ˜€

With the new academic year approaching, this picturebook assembly overview might be useful to people. The suggested books cover themes around empathy, inclusion and diversity, and are all texts I've used in the classroom. Any shares appreciated. Link here: padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/readinโ€ฆ

Almost everyone who works in a primary school accepts that the current curriculum is overloaded. We simply can't squeeze in everything we're supposed to. However, there are two things we must try and ensure take place each day: independent reading and class storytime.

Some terrific work here.
๐ŸšจDo you teach secondary? If so, @educationgovuk has published details of a short course that has been written regarding supporting reading in secondary. This is definitely worth looking at: gov.uk/government/publicatioโ€ฆ #reading #secondary #edutwitter

Iโ€™m so inspired by @Suchmo83 . I am currently half way through his new book! Itโ€™s insightful, packed with research and as it โ€œsays on the tinโ€ a practical guide full of ideas ๐Ÿ’ก that can be implemented straight away. A book that everyone in education should read!
My new book, Primary Reading Simplified, is released this Monday (27th January). Briefly, I'd like to explain why it exists, who I think will find it useful and where you can find it. >>

Writing journals for 'free writing' and inventions. A key element of talk for writing and any effective writing approach. CHOICE. What's the point in being taught to write if you never get to write about your own interest, concerns and obsessions?
The @StJamesYear6 are now armed with their writing journals. #veryexcited Thanks @MrJ_Evans @SandgateTfW for the inspiration!

I've also only read a handful of chapters so far, but I know it will be at least as important as Chris's excellent first book and likely *even more* impactful in schools because the solid practical advice detailed is underpinned by mountains of research and experience!๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ™Œ

The new book about primary reading by @Suchmo83 is out on Kindle today. Iโ€™m only a few chapters in, but Iโ€™ve learned a lot and I think this is going to have the same positive impact as his first book did across countless schools. If you teach in a primary school, get a copy!

Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful! mrboothy6.wordpress.com/2025โ€ฆ

Thirteen years ago, when Talk for writing across the curriculum was published, I wrote: ... support the campaign to make speaking/listening more central to literacy. Oracy precedes and surrounds reading and writing. It is primary to thought.
