Thanks to everyone who learned about and started using Legacy Update in the past week. There was a massive growth spike I'm extremely happy to see! legacyupdate.net/stats

This isn’t very legacy, quite the opposite, but I’m very impressed by just how much Microsoft improved Windows Update performance in 24H2. They claim a ~40% speed improvement! Now, if only they would backport this to Windows 7 🥲 techcommunity.microsoft.com/…

Sending hugs to our friends (heroes, even) at @internetarchive while they deal with the aftermath of the recent attack. Legacy Update mostly uses downloads coming directly from Microsoft, but where we use Wayback Machine links, we’ve temporarily switched to a community mirror.
The data is safe. Services are offline as we examine and strengthen them. Sorry, but needed. @internetarchive staff is working hard. Estimated Timeline: days, not weeks. Thank you for the offers of pizza (we are set).

Windows Embedded 7 extended security updates (ESU) support has fully ended. If you’re running regular 32-bit Windows 7, no more updates will be available for your OS. 64-bit Windows 7 may still be able to install ESU updates from Windows Server 2008 R2.
Support for the final Windows 7 variant under Extended Security Updates (ESU), Windows Embedded POSReady 7 has officially ended. 🪦
