re: #DataCenters in space – I wish someone would explain to me why coronal mass ejections are no longer considered a threat? Especially as it has a 11 year rhythm? Is the lower cost of power and cooling really worth risk of a total wipeout? SpaceX lost 38 satellites in 2024 due to two CME's and his satellites were still in low earth orbit. We know that black swan events aren't really that rare and that there have been events in the last 200 years that if they were to happen today would take out most electronics on earth. Why would things that would likely be outside the ionosphere not be at much greater risk of damage?

The most bizarre thing about my working for G was that it was really rare that I got to program. Now, working for myself, I get to program most days.

Lots of conversation today re: Deepseek I'm reminded of Tesla's remarks on Edison: "If he had a needle to find in a haystack, he would proceed at once with the diligence of a bee to examine straw after straw until he found the object of his search... a little theory and calculation would have saved him ninety percent of his labor."

Some news! I sold my business, Jetboost ☺️ Building Jetboost was a wild, 5-year journey where I also got married, had 3 kids, and moved 6(!) times, including across the US and back. 😅 I’m so grateful to everyone who worked with me on the business and helped make it what it is today. To all the incredible customers who've supported Jetboost over the years, thank you! ❤️ Now, Jetboost enters an exciting new chapter. I can't wait to see how it evolves and finds new ways to empower your Webflow projects. As for me, I don’t have specific plans yet, but I’m eager to take a step back, explore, and see where my curiosity leads next! 🚀

When hiring for public facing roles look for people who make an emotional connection with the audience. I started watching an hour long presentation by someone from Google Workspace who it seemed couldn't care less about the technology. What a waste of time and resources.

It’s probably not related, but I’m finding the lightly censored (Llama3) and uncensored (Dolphin et al.) models just feel better. I wonder if our fear is misplaced? Can we make sensitive subjects perhaps harder to access for a casual user, but still let them exist?

Entrepreneurs, with passion for a vision, invent the future they want. These are my predictions for abundant, awesome, technology-based, Possible Tomorrows (2035-2049) ... if we allow them to happen! #TED2024 @TEDTalks

The world can change seemingly overnight. Those changes often represent the work of many people over many years. 25 years ago, I got to participate in one such change. youtu.be/EhBxWHrG7K8

Finally reading a lot of email, blogs and more that I was getting behind on. Discovered a cool tool, Ollama github.com/jmorganca/ollama that makes it fairly easy to run OSS LLM models locally.
