SOUND ON. Our residential neighborhoods are not industrial parks. Blatant disregard for bylaws pertaining to noise & other nuisance issues is an ongoing problem at many job sites. This lack of respect contributes to the growing frustration with inappropriate and unwanted development. The exploitation of our neighbourhoods and dehumanizing of existing residents needs to stop! #yyc #yyccc

WATCH THIS. This is what allowing R-CG on three consecutive lots looks like. Imagine this at the end of every block, on either side of the street. [the rear units are missing from this video] FULL REPEAL with no amendments, please. Followed by a reset back to R-C1 & R-C2. And then restart the engagement process and involve community residents. We are the experts in our neighbourhood. #yyc #yyccc

So many excellent presentations from such varied perspectives. Calgarians have really shown up. #yyccc
Do Millennials think blanket rezoning is a "well-considered" policy? Did it enable the housing they actually want to live in? Consider this, Calgary... #yyc #yyccc

REPEAL, RESET, RE-ENGAGE: "Blanket rezoning has disrupted the perceived stability of neighbourhood planning, intensified community opposition and contributed to environmental trade-offs such as declining tree canopy." #YYCCC calgaryherald.com/opinion/co… via @calgaryherald

"Mr. Walcott chides the new council for honouring campaign promises. In a municipal democracy, it is not a flaw when councillors try to do what they told voters they would do; it is a virtue." "Many were elected on a clear commitment to revisit blanket upzoning and pursue different tools for affordability. If new facts reasonably change their view, they should explain why."

BLANKET UPZONING DOES NOT GUARANTEE DELIVERY OF AFFORDABILITY: "In a financialized housing market, modest homes on upzoned lots are treated mainly as redevelopment sites. They are demolished and replaced with premium units that must command high prices to cover inflated land costs. That does not preserve what little modest housing stock remains; it accelerates its disappearance." #yyc #yyccc livewirecalgary.com/2026/03/…

Public input has enormous value. It provides local knowledge and real world experience. Blatant disregard of public input is arrogant, disrespectful and a sign of weak governance. #yyccc
Who benefits when the public is excluded? Major zoning changes (R-CG & H-GO) were designed with limited public input. We were told the public lacked expertise. Now we’re seeing the consequences of excluding the public and it aint pretty. Consider this, Calgary. #yyc #yyccc

The CMHC are weaponizing our tax dollars against us. These unelected, nameless, faceless bureaucrats have no business meddling in our lives. Calgarians made it very clear at the ballot box that we reject blanket rezoning. Federal funding shouldn't come with conditions that override voter intent. #yyccc #cdnpoli
NEW: CMHC says in order for Calgary to remain compliant with its funding agreement, any updated zoning “must not reintroduce exclusionary (single family only) zoning.” globalnews.ca/news/11664100/…

CALGARY NEEDS A DASHBOARD FOR WATER LEAKS: The assertion by a city engineer that Calgary’s water loss problem is “like looking for needles in haystacks” because the system is large, speaks volumes about how Calgary’s water system is managed. Edmonton's rate of water loss is estimated to be 5%. Calgary's rate of water loss is approximately 22%. Best practice does not involve searching blindly for leaks across thousands of kilometres of pipe, but rather risk-based asset management. The issue is not system size, it is prioritization. The South Bearspaw Feeder Main supplies approximately 60% of the Calgary’s water, has no redundancy, and is constructed of a PCCP vintage known for sudden failure. That is not a “needle in a haystack.” That is a known, high-consequence risk that should have been subject to proactive inspection and continuous monitoring years earlier. Framing leakage as inevitable because the system is large shifts attention away from governance and investment decisions. Calgarians want those in charge of water system to know where the highest risks are, act on that knowledge, and protect critical infrastructure before failure occurs. #yyccc

Excellent questions from @JenniferWyness. How is it possible that a senior manager was unaware of the weakness of this water pipe when virtually every other jurisdiction, including Edmonton, was taking measures to mitigate anticipated failure. He's either lying or incompetent. We need truth, transparency and competence at city hall. #yyc #yyccc

Replying to @ShaneWenzel
They didn't even inspect the pipe during that time! Also what's the status of the 2nd feeder line from Bearspaw to supply the rest of the city? And the plan to replace this current line? What have they been doing the last 1.5 years!?

Calling a closed-door task force "made-in Calgary" doesnt make it community-driven. Authentic engagement requires involving ordinary Calgarians, not just the so-called experts who already agree with administration. Calgarians want planning done WITH communities not TO them. #yyccc
The Housing and Affordability Task force was a made in Calgary team of experts who crafted recommendations for Calgary. They recommended Rezoning for Housng. It was made in Calgary.

Thumbs up to our new mayor for seeking a made-in-Calgary solution to our housing challenges! Looking forward with optimism to see what we can accomplish if city hall works WITH citizens! #yyccc
Calgarians clearly rejected blanket rezoning. I work for Calgarians, plain and simple -- not politicians or bureaucrats in Ottawa or Edmonton. I'm pushing for a made-in-Calgary housing solution that reflects our city’s needs, respects communities, and delivers more homes people can afford. #yyccc

Its a fallacy to claim Calgary needs blanket upzoning to pay for more pools & recreation facilities. Funding these amenities requires a budget that aligns with Calgarian's priorities, responsible asset maintenance and disciplined capital planning - not by squeezing unwanted density into our neighbourhoods. #yyccc
