The Nigerian government may not have as much technological power as many of us think. This is my personal opinion, and you do not have to take every word for it.
We always ask why it is easy to track people who say mean things about the government or the president, yet it is hard to track down bandits and kidnappers. There are still people who believe that hacking, whether ethical or not, is as simple as movies make it seem.
In the real world, if there are no mistakes, there is no way someone can hack you.
I do not believe that the Nigerian government has access to people’s WhatsApp chats, even if you become a person of interest. Hence, some people who have been detained by the DSS often say that their WhatsApp messages were checked. This does not categorically mean that WhatsApp is 100% secure. The US may still have access to your WhatsApp. It all depends on how much of a person of interest you are.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Follow the money, and you will find out”? That is how most people are tracked. The government simply follows the money. It is that simple. They also look at and try to access the things you post on social media.
I am someone who can find almost anything about anyone online. I know how easy it is.
I had been in business with someone who did not completely fulfill their side of an agreement. It was very easy to pinpoint his exact location. This was because he was active on social media, and I was a patient dog. I was able to do this without following the money because I do not have access to that.
Now imagine what agencies like the DSS can do since they can easily get that information and more once you become a person of interest. They can easily follow your money. They can easily see who you called last on a VoIP call. But that is about the limit.
Again, most people who have been caught will tell you that someone snitched on them.
