I was lucky enough to attend the opening of Jenůfa at the @LyricOpera yesterday afternoon. The dark 3-act by Czech composer Janáček was an impressive production.

Special congratulations are in order for couple John (pictured below) and Karen Shields of Smyth in the West Loop, which was promoted to 3 stars, and Christian Hunter of Atelier in Lincoln Square, who won the prestigious Young Chef Award and received his first star. Bravo!

Congratulations to the five Chicago restaurants that received the Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand designation today: Boonie's in Lincoln Square, Cellar Door Provisions and Union in Logan Square, Pompette in Bucktown, and Yao Yao in Chinatown.

Chicago's food scene has evolved so much since I came here in the '90s, and I'm proud of what our local chefs have done to push the boundaries of fine dining. Looking forward to the release of the full list of Michelin restaurants in NYC, DC, and Chicago next Tuesday.

I loved the energy at Burnham Downs with all of the young Messi fans ahead of last night's @ChicagoFire game against @InterMiamiCF.
They didn't get to see their idol play but they clearly enjoyed the fabulous youth engagement activities from our hometown team.

Chicago's live theater scene is peerless in the Midwest and one of the most vibrant in the world.
However, audiences have been slow to return to their pre-pandemic theater-going habits and, as a result, many of our local nonprofit theater companies continue to struggle.
