Thanks for listening πŸ₯° Yup, thankfully I'm at a point in my career where it's not so scary walking away from jobs that aren't good for me anymore (even in the midst of a pandemic 😬)
Thank you for sharing your story. That's a frustrating experience at your old job!! It's ridiculous they put you on a path to failure, but you called it out and refused to play their game.

πŸ’‘ I'm building a job board for Black tech workers, a place where companies will have to be vetted and apply to post open roles. I wrote a little about why, I'm going to be publicly documenting this so you can follow along 😊lostinthesource.com/blog/the…

I won't be releasing any new podcast episodes until after my degree ☹️ But! I will be writing blog posts, some stuff around what I'm learning at the moment, what I'm building & what's peaked my interest 😊

Taking things back with this old episode on ethics! In this ep I mention how CS degrees don't cover ethics, however, this depends on the course. My degree *did* cover ethics briefly & we were examined on it. πŸ’« open.spotify.com/episode/61r…

Developer education is where I've spent a lot of my free time, whether it's content, workshops or mentoring, it's something I enjoy & care about. But honestly, it is expensive, which is why it's usually the bigger companies that have dedicated roles for this work.

It also relies heavily on community, so while I'm sad that MDN, dev tools, servo & the dev rel teams have been fired, I can imagine that in a market that includes Chrome & Google Experts & etc, that Mozilla Corp found it difficult to compete.

& for better or worse, with business, it's always about competition. It's not enough to be good enough, it's always about being the best. This is the second time this year Mozilla has had mass layoffs & both have included dev rel teams.
