I've joined more than 120 colleagues in signing this EDM to reject the EHRC Code of Practice.
Trans people deserve love and equality. Iโm worried these new rules won't achieve that.
We need a proper debate in Parliament on them, and what they mean for our trans constituents.

Forcing a trans woman to use a male bathroom or force them to compete on a male sports team is forcing the trans woman to be cisgender.
This is equivalent to gender identity conversion efforts, which every major medical association has found to be dangerous and unethical.
The @EHRC argument that trans women will not excluded from bathrooms or sports because they can simply use the menโs bathrooms & they can play on the menโs team is analogous to claiming homosexual individuals are not prevented from marrying under statutes preventing SSM because lesbians & gays could marry someone of a different sex.
