EHRC openly saying they want to remove the protected characteristic protections for trans people. I mean we know they do, but I did sort of assume they'd wait til their fascist friends in Restore / Reform were in power to openly say it x.com/akuareindorf/status/20…

131 MPs have now signed my motion to stand up for trans people and stop the EHRC's Draft Code of Practice coming into force.
For it to succeed, the motion needs to be debated and voted on, so I asked the government if it will allocate time. Unfortunately the Leader of the House did not make that commitment.
We will continue to press for a debate and a vote. Please encourage your MP to sign EDM 240.

The Equality act does not say anywhere that a service described as for women must be single sex. As the supreme court pointed out (Paragraph 2!) woman has an ordinary meaning.
To engage the single sex exceptions in sch 3 the service must be single sex.
Really? What section says a woman's prison must be single sex?

Rape crisis centres have been able to exclude trans people since the act was passed - because that is specifically what the exceptions are there for.
But this is not, and never has been about rape crisis centres. It's about making life impossible for trans people.
