#WATCH | Delhi: On preparations for Census 2027 in the South District, DM Lakshay Singhal says, “The census in Delhi's MCD areas began on May 16th and is scheduled to continue until June 15th. During this period, our enumerators and staff members are going door-to-door to collect data from residents. A mobile-based application has been installed on every enumerator's phone to facilitate this digital data-collection process. They are gathering details such as housing conditions, available household assets, amenities, and basic family structures. These are part of the standard questions being asked. This is how the census is being conducted in our region—specifically in South Delhi—as part of the nationwide census drive…There is absolutely no need to conceal anything or withhold information during this exercise. Furthermore, because the data is saved directly onto a secure online server, privacy is enhanced, and the data remains protected. It is a completely secure portal, so there is no cause for anxiety or worry...”

#WATCH | Delhi: On the District Administration launching heatwave mitigation measures and deploying heatwave relief vans across the region, DM (South District) Lakshay Singhal says, “Our preparations for the heatwave are proceeding quite well. The Chief Minister issued directives to all districts to deploy dedicated resources for heatwave mitigation; specifically, specialised vans have been stationed for this purpose, and cooling stations are also being established. Here in the South District, we were allocated a dedicated van, which has met with a very positive response. This heatwave relief van is currently assisting approximately 1,200 to 1,500 people daily, and to date, we have provided relief to a total of 15,000 to 20,000 individuals. We have also instructed the main contractors at construction sites to look after their workers—specifically, to ensure they are provided with basic amenities like drinking water. Additionally, our heatwave relief van constantly patrols various locations; if the crew observes construction workers at a site who appear to be lacking basic amenities, our van is equipped to distribute essential items—such as cold water, ORS packets, gamchas (light cotton towels), and caps—directly to them...”

Today, I met our young friends from the North East who were affected by the recent distressing incident in Delhi. They are resilient, courageous, and full of promise. I have assured them of my full support during this difficult time. I want to make it clear that Delhi is a city of diversity, respect, and mutual dignity. Strictest action will be taken against the miscreants involved in this incident. There is absolutely no place for hatred, discrimination, intimidation, or racial abuse in Delhi. Such behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. I urge everyone not to politicize this sensitive matter. The dignity, safety, and future of our young students must remain above all else. I also request all concerned to respect the privacy of the young students and their families. We must give them the space, support, and assurance they need during this time.
