Officially earned my PhD from @MITdeptofBE!
Here’s 1 lesson I learned in each year of grad school:🧵
1. Pick advisors that care about you. Not just the science, but your happiness & life goals. Your life WILL fall apart ≥1 time in grad school & you will need advisor support.
Exciting news yesterday for @AethonTx, our partnership with Revolution Medicines was announced, bringing together two powerful anti-KRAS strategies!

Heading to Barcelona 💃🇪🇸 tomorrow to give a lecture at the @EMBO targeted proteomics course! Looking forward to meeting the attendees & chatting mass spec!
Helping get the @AethonTx lab off the ground & getting back into the lab full time attacking new [hard] scientific questions has re-energized me in a way I didn’t know possible.
JOIN THE STARTUP. TAKE THE RISK. You’ll feel 26 again 🤓
The best training for a startup is to do everything yourself in academia, and to outsource everything in industry. In a startup, time vs money is a constant balancing act
Has the @tronmainz cell line portal been down for anyone else?

This is my favorite resource and I’m feeling lost without it working… HELP!
Starting a #startup update: 6 months later, the lab is open for business 🤓
The amount of steps between signing a lab lease to actually starting the science is wild but looking around today, I can’t believe how far we’ve come. PINCH ME!!
I have been scheduled on 7 different cancelled flights from CLE > JFK/LGA over the past 48 hours from @Delta and @AmericanAir. At first it was weather, but now it certainly is not. Send funny jokes my way 😭
Today, our Ascend #MS finally came to life… ROCK ON!🤘
In <4 mo, we’ve turned a lab storage room into a top-notch MS room, with no delays/issues, despite countless teams/vendors required to finish construction & get all the pieces in place for today. I’m thrilled! #startup
Starting a #startup day 141: Mass spec delivery! Getting a brand new MS is always exciting, but today is extra special bc this is my first experience building an MS lab solo, and completely from scratch. PINCH ME!!!
If you think you may start/join a biotech #startup someday, I recommend being EHS rep for your PhD/postdoc lab. Realizing now as we set up @AethonTx how fluent I am in safety/waste lingo! 🗑️♻️
I recently interviewed a strong candidate.
She generously credited other researchers whose methods enabled her research. This created a strong positive impression about her.
Deservingly crediting others does not diminish our contributions.
◼️It frames them in a helpful context.
Starting a #startup day 122: Hardhat tour of the construction in my new mass spec room 🤓
Most startup lab spaces can’t easily accommodate the HVAC needs of a mass spec, so extensive construction is required. It’s SO exciting to see the room nearing completion!!
I’m delighted to share our @NatureCancer paper by Anne Kraemer et al. nature.com/articles/s43018-0… Our objective was to investigate whether there are substantial differences in the antigenic landscape presented in tumors that are T cell inflamed versus those that are non-inflamed.
Fun event last night with Alexandria at their NYC life science innovators dinner- great mix of startups, vc, philanthropy, & academic founders. Also the tuna and caviar eclair was 🤤
