You cannot build a church on consumers. They'll desert you at a moment's notice because they have no commitments beyond meeting their own needs. Jesus can take twelve disciples and build a movement that changes the world. You could never do that with consumers
BEFORE: “The Rebels are being hysterical. We would never ACTUALLY blow up Alderaan.”
DURING: “Now isn’t the time to play politics and talk about the destruction of Alderaan.”
AFTER: “We need to move on from Alderaan to begin the healing for the good of the galaxy.”
I know new years is an arbitrary boundary that doesn't actually exist in any way that affects the world. Gotta say I'm sort of glad to cross the boundary this time. Maybe get last year into that dog-walking poop bag and lob it toward the nearest municipal trash can.
Our suburbs are the way they are today because of explicitly discriminatory policies in the past. To say “Don’t you want to keep them the way they are” is to say “Don’t you want to continue economic injustice?” No Christian can in good faith say “Yes!”
