post ai coding I like to think of my codebase as some sort of loosely defined orb/balloon. every time I send of codex to write a feature the "thing" gets inflated. you can only do this so much until it bursts. /review compresses the object again. and going through hot paths manually / writing critical parts by hand attaches something like a steel between two points on the inside of the blob (and therefore adds stability and tightens it) if you do everything correctly you end up with a robust and concise "thing" (a diamond even).

civilian anti drone capabilities will be a huge market. both anti surveillance and also against lethal threads. will start with HNWIs and then trickle down. Would be cool to build in this space
JUST IN: FBI announces it busted a massive drone terror plot targeting White House UFC event, with 5 suspects in custody & 18 still at-large.

it's always annoying to return to a project you haven't touched in a while. good chance to refresh > Web Serial API > UART basics > Embassy USART > postcard > binary framing and do some programming in contrast to all the coding i've been engaged in recently

I just wasted 35 minutes on a faulty usb cable. I could neither upgrade the firmware nor connect the debug probe of my STM32 board. turns out it was the cable

now is a good time to learn your ways around local models. I wouldn't delay that until the big ones are captured/don't improve that much anymore

local models btw smart enough since months btw you don’t know how to extract the intelligence anyways btw

this is quite entertaining. capability wise I still think 5.5 isn’t any worse but hyping it up like anthropic ultimately was a impressive fumble
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…
