A frontier model went dark today, not just for the lab but for every business on it. Build on a model you don't control and your uptime is someone else's permission, gone by an order you weren't in. Open weights remove that single point of failure. This is why BasedAI exists.

This makes it clear that the path for intelligence is through open weight models.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

This week was about one number - not what a model costs, but what the work costs. @GetHirebased published a great article about it hirebase.co/blog/what-an-ai-…
A per-token price tells you nothing about what the work costs. So we priced three real AI jobs - a landing page, a GTM plan, daily inbox and calendar triage. New on the blog, with the receipts 👇 hirebase.co/blog/what-an-ai-…

Most companies use AI like a marginally better photocopier. The ones who redesign their work around it see 5x the impact, and we've known why since 1881, when factories made the exact same mistake with electricity. The full story, new on the blog: basedai.co/blog/the-1-trilli…

Our CEO has made the open source cost argument in investor rooms for years. This week Microsoft, Uber, and GitHub made it for her. @TeanaTaylor on what the cost inflection looks like from inside the company built for exactly this moment.

GitHub Copilot moved all its plans to usage-based pricing today. The meter is on. The reason it can move now is the same reason every other closed-AI vendor will follow. The subsidy era is unwinding, the token economics are catching up, and the bill is starting to arrive at scale. The race becomes who burns fewer tokens per outcome. Open weights already win that race on cost.
‘What a joke’: Github Copilot’s new token-based billing spurs consternation among devs techcrunch.com/2026/05/30/wh…

Where does your data go, and who gets smarter when you send it? This is the question most coverage of enterprise AI in 2026 is still polite enough not to ask out loud. basedai.co/blog/where-does-o…

Closed frontier labs are far more expensive than open weights. Today's price is held up by a subsidy that is ending. Enterprises are already moving. Open weights win on cost, efficiency, and on data that does not train a competitor's next model. This is why we built BasedAI
🦔Microsoft canceled its internal Claude Code licenses this week after token-based billing made the cost untenable, even for a company with effectively infinite cloud resources. Uber's CTO sent an internal memo warning the company burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in just four months. American AI software prices have jumped 20% to 37%, and GitHub (owned by Microsoft) is dropping flat-rate plans for usage-based billing across its products. My Take The AI subsidy era is ending in real time. The same company that put $13 billion into OpenAI and built the Azure infrastructure powering most of Anthropic's compute just looked at the bill from a competitor's coding tool and decided it was not worth paying. That is not a productivity failure on Anthropic's end. Token-based pricing is forcing every enterprise customer to confront the actual cost of running these models at scale, and the number turns out to be far higher than the flat-rate experiments suggested. This ties directly to my Gemini Flash post yesterday. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google all raised effective prices in the last six months. Enterprises that built workflows assuming AI costs would keep falling are now watching annual budgets evaporate in months. Two outcomes look likely from here. Either enterprises scale back AI usage to fit budgets, which slows the revenue ramp the labs need to justify their valuations ahead of IPOs, or the labs cut prices and absorb the losses, which makes the unit economics worse at exactly the wrong moment. Both paths land in the same place, the numbers stop working, and somebody has to take the writedown. Hedgie🤗

Most tokens are paid to exist. $WARD gets paid to die... Every Halo inference routes USDC into a buyback on DEXs >> 60% to stakers & 40% burned 🔥🔥 Driven by usage. Not hype.

Two big updates from Warden today. The Warden Foundation is live, with full focus on shipping Halo and the future of WARD. The Warden App is moving to a new home with the BasedAI team. Both are good news for the protocol. Here's why ↓

VVV went through a heavy post-listing dump while most people lost patience and moved on. But 11 months later, it slowly built strength and eventually reversed into a strong uptrend. Warden feels like it’s in a very similar phase right now – early dip, early doubt, but signs of recovery starting to form. And don’t forget, Venice – one of the early supporters of VVV – is also invested in Warden. Maybe it’s not about timing… maybe it’s about conviction. $WARD @wardenprotocol @AskVenice

If I look at Hermes and OpenClaw, I don't get the hype with Hermes... fails at all the same points, and onboarding is not what they promise. Anyone has similar thoughts? or is it already a tribal thing...?

The moment for a fully distributed A2A network is coming...
Something big is coming to the decentralized AI space this week. The convergence everyone's been waiting for. Bittensor showed us decentralized compute is real. But something else shifted. The agent explosion changed the timeline. What we thought was years away is happening now. 🧵

Well this is understandable. For me @Openclaw does consume a lot of API credits and Anthropic do have to prioritize compute at this point - but then it’s also a bullish sign for open weights models and local inference
Starting tomorrow at 12pm PT, Claude subscriptions will no longer cover usage on third-party tools like OpenClaw. You can still use these tools with your Claude login via extra usage bundles (now available at a discount), or with a Claude API key.
