I've seen the democracy vs republic argument so many times I just want to set the record straight, even though I know no one will read this thread.
The US is a republic AND a democracy.
For contrast, the UK is a democracy but NOT a republic (it is a constitutional monarchy)...

In the US on the other hand the power resides solely in the hands of the elected representatives. Which makes it a republic, as well as a democracy.

Non-democratic republics are now very rare. Non-republican democracies are a little more common in modern times. In any case, stop saying the US is a republic but not a democracy. It's both.

@three_broadband I'm in N1 and the connection through my Three 5G broadband router is very spotty. It works great for a bit, and then it stops connecting to websites. Sometimes rebooting the router fixes it, but I have to do it several times a day. Are there works in the area?

Weirdly internet on my phone, also Three but 4G, works fine even when the 5G has an outage.

@virginmedia broadband internet has been in and out for the last two days, and I really need it for my work. Today it was working fine and suddenly the connection dropped (about two hours ago) and never came back. I live near Angel, are you having issues in the area?

@three_broadband look, it's pointless to tell people that their device has issues, I have run a variety of tests on my router and it's clear that it's your 5G network that is not able to cope. It's a difficult time, but hopefully this will make you better prepared in the future.

It's also a bit upsetting that this new 5G broadband was not tested under load before being released to the wider public; it should have been checked to be capable of handling all users connecting at once by distributing the load much better than it is doing right now.
