Breaking—A huge new event is in the works involving a majority of CBB's blue bloods, sources tell @CBSSports. It's called the Diamond Cup. The debut is planned for 2027. It's a major, unprecedented scheduling idea. Can it all come together? Let's hope so. cbssports.com/college-basket…

Unorthodox is certainly one way to phrase it. x.com/CBKReport/status/20567…

Will Wade and LSU are building the most unorthodox college basketball roster of all-time. • Yam Madar (25, drafted in 2020) • RJ Luis (23, G League) • Brice Dessert (23, EuroLeague) • Marcio Santos (23, EuroLeague) • Mo Dioubate (22, Kentucky) • Austin Nunez (23, UTSA) • Abdi Bashir (22, Kansas State) • Divine Ugochukwu (20, Michigan State)

You can count on one hand the number of high-major coaches who would schedule High Point. And LSU is paying $105,000 (good MMs almost never command that sum) for HPU to visit Baton Rouge. MAJOR kudos to Will Wade for having the stones to schedule this. x.com/RoccoMiller8/status/20…

Sources: LSU will host High Point as part of its 2026-27 non-conference schedule. The game will be played on either December 18th or 19th at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. This will be the first regular-season game for HPU against a P5 team since 2023-24. #SEC #BigSouth

Sources: The NCAA has initiated the final steps to expand the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments to 76 teams. The expansion is on track to be formalized in the upcoming weeks, with mid-May as the target. The 76-team tournaments begin next year. espn.com/mens-college-basket…

A few hosting situations worth noting: Spokane - University of Idaho, so Gonzaga can be placed there. Fort Worth - University of North Texas, so TCU can be placed there. LA - Pepperdine, so UCLA/USC can be placed there. Omaha & NY City - Creighton & St. John's, respectively hosting, so cannot be placed there.

Incredibly fitting title for arguably the most consistently strong team all season, Michigan. Major credit to UConn for holding the Wolverines in check and battling back throughout the second half when it looked like the knockout punch was about to be landed. Feels like the start of something very special in Ann Arbor for Dusty May.

Stunning offensive performance from Michigan tonight. Not so much in that it’s the Wolverines that look like a world-beater, but more so that Arizona’s defense is being systematically dismantled in the half-court.

That Cadeau to Mara floater is absolutely exquisite. Michigan has run it a couple of times tonight. Ball seems to hang in the air for eternity off of Cadeau’s toss.

Regardless of what happens Monday, this year has been Dan Hurley’s best coaching job, and I don’t think it’s particularly debatable. What a run to the National Championship game by the Huskies. Arizona or Michigan awaits.

The NCAA is expected to finalize an expansion of the men’s and women’s tournaments to 76 teams soon after the completion of this year’s March Madness tournament, per Yahoo Sports' @RossDellenger. Barring something unforeseen, “it will happen,” a high-placed source told Dellenger. The proposal would add eight games to the First Four, with 24 teams playing in an opening round before advancing into the second round.

The funniest part about expansion to me is that it is so universally panned, that even fans of teams who just missed the tournament in recent years and would have benefitted directly from an larger field, are overwhelmingly against it. Just incredibly dumb stuff from the NCAA.
