I spent Friday with researchers and practitioners at a
@JPAL_NA convening, talking about the value of causal evidence (including RCTs) for making policy work better.
A question that came up again and again is how to move forward in this moment of uncertainty about research funding.
I’m grateful that
@Arnold_Ventures is committed to this policy space, so our funding isn’t going anywhere. And now (via an AV grant) more funding - as well as practitioner-researcher matchmaking - is available from
@JPAL_NA as well.
I realize that lots of researchers would prefer to do descriptive or qualitative work in the CJ space, or to work in other policy areas entirely. I can’t help there, and do feel for you. But I can offer encouragement and support if you want to join us in testing what works in the crime/CJ space. There is lots of work to do here, and hunger from policymakers for new ideas that are actually effective.
I’ll link to our RFP below. If you’re a researcher interested in pivoting into this space/type of work, email me so that we can try to pull you into upcoming events/opportunities.
