New vehicles, new vehicle locators and new departure boards has given Edinburgh, in my opinion, some of the best bus passenger information provision in the country, with clear audio-visual info and improved handling of diversions. Hats off to @on_lothianbuses and @Edinburgh_CC.

The ability of the new BZLs to show and announce diversion routes and stops and the ability to use the app to track buses on diversion routes is a massive improvement and really makes travelling by bus simpler and less stressful.

Hi @EdinburghTrams is the online tracking working correctly? Neither the times on the app or the website align with what's shown on the departure board on the platform. All of these photos/screenshots were taken within 30 seconds of each other.

Happy new year! Last summer I went to Lausanne, the smallest city (140k) to have a rapid transit system. It inspired me to think about what could be achieved in the UK if we were as ambitious. Here's a concept for a similar metro system in York, England (140k population also).

So disappointing. Rapid transit is crucial for economic, social and environmental sustainability. Why does it take 15-20 years to build a simple tram system? Public transport delivers societal benefits that far outweigh any capital investment!

And there it is. Embargo is finished. Yorkshire Post press publish first. But I have my suspicions there's quite a lot more to this story than what they're reporting. yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/pol…

A very simple diagram I put together in the past couple of days: current rail and tram services in Edinburgh. #transit #rail

Just crazy how many people the Elizabeth Line shifts. 800,000 journeys are made per day. For comparison the M1 motorway is responsible for 140,000 daily trips according to the AA. Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow should all get a Crossrail, and London should get a second.

There will soon be an Elizabeth line train through the core section of the network every three minutes on Saturdays, as TfL prepares to increase the service. ianvisits.co.uk/articles/eli…

Good to see them finally in service!
🚆 A New Era Begins! At 07:00 this morning, our very first #Aurora entered passenger service - a landmark moment for East Midlands Railway, @TUKGroup_ and rail travel across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. These new 🇬🇧 built Hitachi Rail trains bring more seats, more space, better accessibility, improved customer information, and the ability to run on electric, helping us deliver quieter, cleaner journeys and an even better experience for our customers. As more Auroras join the network throughout 2025/26, customers will feel the difference: modern interiors, stronger WiFi and mobile connectivity, thoughtfully designed seating, and a new level of comfort and reliability. The #Aurora is here ✨ news.eastmidlandsrailway.co.…

What’s remarkable in these figures is that two of the top 10 are stations served only by Elizabeth line services and both have just two platforms - Tottenham Court Road (68.1 million exits and entries) and Bond Street (42.8m).

London Liverpool Street is Britain’s busiest station for the third year running! It had 98 million entries and exits. Our #StationUsage stats shows six stations served by the Elizabeth line in the top 10 📊🚉 Read more ➡️ dataportal.orr.gov.uk/statio…

The impact of the Elizabeth line on rail patronage is unmistakable and incredible! Build more lines like this, and reform the planning system so that building them is quicker, easier and cheaper

My rough sketch of all bus services in the Glasgow city region is complete. Next up, turning this into a neat diagram... definitely much easier said than done but a challenge I'm looking forward to. #glasgow #transit #buses

It's been radio silence from me as I've been busy with university but I'm still working on transport concepts in my spare time. My newest project is a big one - creating a diagram of all bus services in the Glasgow City Region. Here is my initial rough sketch, about 75% complete

I'm adding operators' routes to the initial sketch alphabetically so I'm still missing some big ones like Stuart's and Whitelaws. Eventually I'll be turning this sketch into a sleek diagram. #buses #transit

Excellent news! Glasgow deserves a better bus network, it is far too fragmented and unreliable for a city of its size. I just hope that SPT can do a decent job with it.
