This was among the reasons why feddit.bg was started, a community far from the numbers on Reddit, but is locally hosted and transparently administered. This limits the risks of such events happening in the future. Part of the fediverse: feddit.bg/c/fediverse
If for whatever reason you might be migrating to Instagram/Threads, keep in mind that you have the option to integrate your account with the fediverse (Mastodon/Lemmy/Pixelfed/...)

Then there are also those who do get to drive fast as they'd like surpassing everyone from the rightmost lane. Expectedly, this last category is composed mostly of sportscars. The actual fun is that plenty of van drivers are also trying to repeat that trick with limited success
As part of my process of moving out of twitter, I've unfollowed all my contacts that are: verified accounts, marketing accounts, journalists. Given that this platform is literally broken for communication, I've lost my tolerance to people paying for it

After seeing the quality of conversations on this platform deteriorate drastically, 've now conclusively left it and no longer check my account. Anyone who wishes to get in touch with me can find me on the Fediverse at qoto.org/@mapto
I also actively maintain a Bulgarian-language account at masto.bg/@mapto and an Italian-language one at feddit.it/u/mapto. The diversity of the Fediverse is one of its most beautiful parts and I'd like to contribute to it.
All this and more, can be read and distributed (en/de/fr/it/bg) via docs.google.com/document/d/1…
We're looking for further publicity and are willing to get people in touch with local lawyers, experts, journalists, activists, for further details and opinions
Bulgaria’s election next month is boiling down to the role of media mogul Delyan Peevski and his capacity to undermine the nation’s fragile democracy.
The tycoon has come to epitomize Bulgaria’s captured state.
But taking him on is no easy matter.

You need to understand how crazy this antisemitism bill is that just passed the House with wide bipartisan approval. The law requires the Department of Education to adopt the definition of antisemitism provided by something called the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

Please join me in praying for the well-being and swift release of Laylan Nasser, a member of St Peter’s Anglican Church in Birzeit, in the West Bank, snatched from her family by Israeli troops at 4am on Saturday without giving any reason or saying where she is being held
“They have names, they had dreams.”
In Sydney, Australia, activists unfurled a massive banner featuring the names of thousands of children who have lost their lives due to Israeli military actions in Gaza.
Animators from Mexico, Lebanon and Colombia created the @grampalestina initiative to honor the children of Gaza and demand a ceasefire.
More than 13,000 Palestinian children have been killed by Israel during its attacks on Gaza since October 7.
I am a fan of arXiv, but one inevitable downside--especially in a world full of #AI influencers taking click-bait titles of new arXiv entries at face value--is that papers claiming theoretical analyses will just be assumed to be proving what they claim, even if they are actually not (because often the influencers can't actually be bothered to read or understand the claimed theorems and their settings).
Hard as it may be to believe in these days when everyone wishes they already are AI experts, understanding claims in technical papers requires actual #AI background--not just twitter follower count or even eminent expertise in other areas.
