working on a series of fragments using HRQR, a visual, machine-readable code software designed to bridge the gap between human algorithmic text interpretation. the twist is that the digital decoder for this software no longer exists on the live web. the reader technology has disappeared... no longer a utility, the code becomes a reflection on digital ruin, and what remains when our tools stop working. the message can no longer be decoded by the machine, leaving the human viewer as its sole interpreter. this piece is based on Cy Twombly: a master of the fragment, and an artist largely focussed on the space where writing collapses into pure emotion. the text encodes Rilke’s line: “Breath, you invisible poem” more to come for the archive, still uncertain about minting.

Seeing my name and first generative art collection on the homepage of Verse is genuinely incredible. Eigenfolds has been in the works for years. At least as the start of an idea. Eight months ago, I decided to put my head down and figure out what exactly I wanted to bring to life using only maths and code. And here it is. All this time I’ve been inspired by artists like @ArtOnBlockchain @kimasendorf @zachlieberman @REAS and pioneers like Vera Molnár and Harold Cohen. But it took me while to have the guts to create a body of work of my own. Whatever happens today, if collectors like it or not and if it gets collected or not, doesn’t matter. It’s all been worth it already.

This might just be our biggest shift in direction since starting Verse. In a couple of weeks, Verse will become a curated open platform. And more than that - we’ll become a platform for all creators of digital media, rather than just digital artists. We have some extremely exciting creators set to release next month, including some beyond our space, and beyond digital art. Their fans will be able to collect cultural artefacts from creators they love, with no wallet, on @ethereum. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

Ricky Retouch x The Garden Presenting: ‘Split Logic’ A collection of 100 procedural motion works inspired by analog display systems from the 1970s–90s. Built from screen partitions, coded labels, moving fields, and rule-based color, the series imagines terminals from an unknown system: part diagnostic interface, part speculative machine language. Across the works, information drifts between utility and abstraction. Grids flicker. Signals scatter. Motion emerges through directional noise, shifting points, and algorithmic constraints that never fully settle into order. The surfaces move away from the paper-like texture of earlier collections toward something colder, denser, and more digital. Glow, blur, compression, and instability become part of the material itself.
