Enjoyable event tonight by @reformscotland @chrisdeerin and @cstreetpartners with @Ivan_McKee. Many questions but good to hear the current govt perspective after 18 years in power, particularly heading into an election year.
Delighted to host Public Finance Minister @Ivan_McKee for a speech and Q&A on public service reform. The event was chaired by @chrisdeerin & in partnership with @cstreetpartners. The full event will be available to watch back on our website from tomorrow.

Some years I don’t know what to say. It’s 29 now and those dark days are never far from my mind. Spare a wee thought for my hometown of Dunblane today.❤️

I’ve written for the @theipaper on why the decision to remove the dementia diagnosis rate target from NHS plans is so wrong. inews.co.uk/opinion/wes-stre…
Dementia affects nearly 1 million people in the UK. It places enormous and growing pressure and costs on the NHS and social care. To fix the fundamentals, we must #MakeDementiaAPriority

We have to do things differently. I'm instructing the NHS to fix the fundamentals. It needs to deliver on patients’ priorities – shorter waiting times, being able to get a GP appointment and ambulances that arrive on time. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/01…

Enjoyed meeting @sarah4bridgend and talking about how we can get the next Dementia Action Plan in Wales to be ambitious, deliverable and accountable. Looking forward to more conversations.
This afternoon, we had the pleasure of meeting @Sarah4Bridgend, Welsh Minister for Mental Health & Wellbeing. It was great to reflect on learnings from the previous Dementia Action Plan for the next one. We look forward to working together!

Head of Policy Jen Keen writes about why we don't need to wait to improve social care. There are tangible, implementable and cost effective changes we can make now to improve social care. Dementia training is one such change, and the consensus behind it is growing all the time.

We were pleased to welcome the Health Minister to our Belfast office today. With dementia cases in NI projected to rise by 51% by 2040, urgent action is needed. We look forward to working with @healthdpt and the SPPG to drive transformation in dementia care and support.

Some ve stuff, including more £££ and productivity focus for NHS and support for social care. Diagnostics investment also important. @alzheimerssoc will be scrutinising the small print to see what’s what for people with dementia and working with Gov and NHS on the 10 yr plan
It’s #Budget2024 day – and we've asked the Government for: Long-term investment in dementia diagnosis & treatment Dementia training for the social care workforce Better data on dementia Dementia costs £42 billion per year - it's time to make it a priority.

Of course, this means more money for Wales and NI too. Investment in social care, diagnosis and treatment must follow.
