With the Thai army using so much razor wire they have essentially run out, an unspoken casualty is ecological connectivity along the intact forest ecosystems along the border, crucial for Tigers, Elephants, Bears, Leopards ect.
This area has the potential to be a remarkably significant trans-boundary conservation area, complementing and equal to the world heritage site just to its west, yet it is being dotted with barriers, razor wire and landmines.
