In light of the depressing Pitchfork news, it's worth remembering that it's one of the sites that defined web publishing. It pre-dated Google, blogs, and social media, and has thrived and evolved through almost three decades of change. Here's hoping this isn't the end.

Hey, music and media people I follow who are still active here, you are aware that Elon is now going all in on pizzagate, right? Please, time to close up shop here.

Reminder that this guy invested in some of the more culturally oriented Web3 companies, the ones that claimed they weren’t part of the scam. Wonder how those folks feel about him now?
Marc Andreessen, who runs one of the biggest Silicon Valley venture capital firms, wrote a "manifesto" today labeling “social responsibility" and "tech ethics" teams "the enemy." His firm recently pivoted from crypto/Web3 to American military and defense contractor technology.

Can’t decide if I’m impressed or horrified that @FOXSports decided to use the font from late 1980s Trapper Keepers for its college football graphics.

Come on ⁦⁦@amazon⁩ this is an absolutely obscene amount of packaging in which to ship ONE vinyl record. See that interior mailer box you stuffed inside the gigantic box? That is literally what everyone else who mails records uses. Just wasteful.

Stereogum remains an invaluable publication very much worthy of your support. Do it, people.

Boys Don’t Cry -> Jumping Someone Else’s Train -> Grinding Halt -> 10:15 Saturday Night -> Killing an Arab. To be clear, I used to jump around my room imagining I was at a show watching that sequence. Unbelievably great.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I sure am enjoying my Twitter feed being highjacked by three Silicon Valley bros who are much dumber than they realize arguing that a scientist should “debate” a nepo baby on a podcast hosted by a roided-out reality TV host.

When I was 15, I danced around my room pretending I was in the crowd at Maxwell’s for ⁦@TheFeeliesNJ⁩ Away video. 34 years later I’ve gotten to dance around like an idiot seeing them in person a couple dozen times, including tonight’s insanely great show. I’m lucky.

Plan on listening to this 20-second teaser snippet of the new @slowdiveband single (!!) at least 50 more times between now and when it’s finally released in three days.

Tennis Tweet: Petition to have @TennisChannel win the rights to every Grand Slam. Their coverage of @rolandgarros has been A . Plus it's nice to not constantly hear about "body language," "fearhands," and how "fit" everyone is or isn't.

Watching Jacob deGrom pitch for my Mets for 8 years was one of the thrills of my life as a sports fan. Grateful especially that I got to be at Citi for his last Mets start, against the Padres last year in the playoffs. Hope I get to watch him pitch again someday.

The New Yorker runs major profiles of maybe 2 or 3 musicians a year, max. Does one of them really have to be Matty Healy??
