Claude Design might be one of the most underrated AI products right now. It's not Pencil. It's not Figma. It's not Lovable. It reminds me of Claude Code when it first launched. Many people saw it as "just another CLI" and missed what was actually happening. The breakthrough wasn't the interface. It was the creation of a new category. Claude Design may have the same potential. People are evaluating it as a better design tool, while it might actually be redefining how software gets designed in the first place.

Gone too soon... Fable.

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Looks like everyone is cooling down a bit on AI-powered software engineering. AI has made software creation dramatically faster — and a lot more fun. In many ways, it feels like everyone suddenly became a 10× engineer. But there’s another side to the story: as the cost of building drops, the complexity of software rises, and user expectations rise even faster. The bottleneck is shifting. Less about writing code. More about deciding what is worth building.
More AI-generated code doesn't make your team faster. It might actually slow you down.

Even the latest Claude, Gemini, or GPT models are still just better horses. Stronger horses. Smarter horses. Faster horses. But still horses. The real challenge isn’t building a better horse. It’s building the roads, harnesses, maps, rules, and eventually the autopilot systems that allow them to work together effectively.
Today’s LLMs are like amazing horses. They can run fast, carry heavy loads, and even work surprisingly well on their own. But they still don’t truly know where to go or what should be done next. You still need to harness them, guide them, and coordinate them. It’s already far better than doing everything yourself. But let’s not confuse powerful assistance with true automation.

The recent hype around “loop engineering” reminds me of the long-forgotten Ralph Loop. 😄 Both are interesting techniques that can solve certain problems, but neither feels like the final answer.

community.arcblock.io/discus…

Don't be surprised if you see Astrology listed alongside Blockchain and AI in my research bio. 😂 Astrology is an ancient embedding model trying to compress the complexity of humans and the universe into a symbolic vector space. I'm still researching which one is the craziest. ✨

By the way, a new version was quietly released. Feel free to give it a try. And before anyone asks: no, the stars haven't aligned perfectly yet. The bigger upgrades are still on the way. ✨ aistro.io

@VitalikButerin is taking a break from writing essays to write science fiction. 😄 Inspired by that, I've decided to use AI to reinvent astrology and focus on making our ecosystem's AI astrology app AISTRO much better.

A batch of cool stuff is coming in June! 🚀 AFS, ARC, next-generation Blocklets, DID/VC, Agentic Blockchain, AI-native tools, and a few surprises we've been quietly working on. The wait took longer than we hoped, but the pieces are finally coming together. Stay tuned.
I believe Blockchain/Crypto, DID/VC, and LLM/AI will be among the most important building blocks of software engineering over the next decade. This moment reminds me of the early 2000s, when many people saw the Internet as little more than a bubble, a scam, or a source of adult content. Today, many view blockchain and crypto as casinos, scams, and pump-and-dump schemes. The noise is different. The pattern is the same. Getting on the right side of technological shifts is one of the most important first principles.

Everything Evolves, Something Endures:
I am proud to announce that I will be presenting AFS-UI (Agentic File System UI) as a keynote speaker and panelist at Harness4UI 2026, held in conjunction with ASE 2026 in Munich, Germany. Harness4UI is the inaugural workshop on Harness Engineering for Generative UI, bringing together researchers and practitioners working on the architectures, infrastructure, tooling, and engineering practices behind the next generation of AI-powered user interfaces. I’m excited to share our work on AFS-UI and discuss how LLMs, DID, blockchain, and agentic systems are reshaping software development and user experiences in the AI era. Looking forward to meeting researchers, builders, and practitioners from around the world in Munich this October.

Together with world-class researchers and partners across multiple continents, we have advanced AFS (Agentic File System) into a foundational infrastructure for the AI era. By combining LLMs, DID, and blockchain technologies, we aim to take AI-powered software development to an entirely new level. This is just the beginning.

For those outside academia, ASE (Automated Software Engineering) is one of the premier international conferences in software engineering, bringing together leading researchers and practitioners working on the future of software development. Harness4UI is particularly exciting because it focuses on a problem I believe will become increasingly important in the AI era: how we engineer, govern, observe, and evolve Generative UI systems beyond prompts and models.

AI agents are moving so fast that many builders find their ideas outdated before they even ship. That’s why it’s increasingly important to build something tangible — something that doesn’t become obsolete as models improve, but instead gets stronger because of them. The winners of the AI era won’t fight the model curve. They’ll ride it. We believe ArcBlock has found that path.
