Presenting my curated list of 10 essential books every Malawian should read. These works should be compulsory in secondary education to combat ignorance and foster intellectual growth. Ensuring our youth are well-read is crucial for a knowledgeable and humble nation. 📚 #Malawi
Those who grew up in old Lilongwe remember 'Ku Council' as a buzzing nightspot where the city came alive. Today, it’s a ghost of its former self. Dear @LLCityCouncil, if you’ve run out of ideas, please sell it over to someone who can give this old legend a comeback tour.
For sale: Grand Business Park in Lilongwe. For only 33.5 Billion #Malawi Kwacha, roughly $18.6 Million on the formal market but only $9 Million on the parallel market.
It’s been 25 years since Matafale died & #Malawi’s reggae artists are still collectively trying to catch up with a man who has been gone for a quarter of a century. That tells you everything about the size of his talent. He wasn’t just ahead of his time; he was ahead of the queue
Nothing captures the state of the economy quite like this: if even the big players are struggling to keep up with the bills, what hope is there for ordinary Malawians already stretched to the limit? #Malawi
A moving story by @DialogueEarth_ on how climate change-induced disasters have affected humanitarian efforts in Malawi. @mcbrams

At the @NRBMwOfficial offices in Area 3 trying to get my daughter's birth certificate reprinted. It's a few minutes before 2pm, yet officers are still nowhere to be seen after lunch while hundreds of Malawians remain trapped in endless queues. 1/3
This is the everyday face of dysfunction in our public service: a culture where citizens' time means nothing. We lament underdevelopment, but how can a country move forward when basic government services grind to a halt because public servants simply don't show up on time? 2/3
These may seem like small failures, but multiplied across thousands of offices, every day, they cost Malawi productivity, dignity, investment and progress. This is exactly how nations sabotage themselves.

The @CFTCMalawi has once again shown that regulation is not supposed to be a spectator sport, fining @StandardBankMW, @FDHBankMalawi & others for competition-related violations. Refreshing, really. In a country full of institutions that specialise in looking busy but do nothing.
Dear @FaMalawi, at this point, it might be time to retire the "Transforming the Game" slogan. The Flames keep losing & the only transformation appears to be in administrators' lifestyles. The results certainly aren't being transformed. So who & what exactly is being transformed?
And what do we have to show for it?
The United States has provided more than $6 billion in assistance to #Malawi since the country attained independence, underscoring decades of partnership in health, food security, economic development and governance

It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest.--Adam Smith
Over decades, Malawi has received billions in aid, yet poverty persists. The harder question isn’t whether aid works, but who benefits from keeping poverty as an industry. Today, I dig into the uncomfortable economics of the 'poverty industrial complex.' linkedin.com/pulse/poverty-i…
Took this photo of Lucius Banda at Mavuto & Flora Ngwirinjiri's wedding at Shire Highlands Hotel in Limbe. We eventually used another photos from the event on the cover of his 'Time'
album.. cover design by Dave 'Saps' Sapuwa
And my friend Chippie Phone had accompanied me to meet Lucius at one of his performances at Club 247 when he took this photo.. We used the photo for the 'Thank You' cover and I think Chippie designed the rework as well
And this is one of my favourite photos of Lucius, taken by my friend @thekimpho during a Sand Festival media event at @MalawiSun. For all his last 10 albums, I can tell you the context of each cover photo and the story behind it. Zikomo
And this, we had driven down the Thyolo road because he wanted me to help him write a song so we needed a quiet place from the madding crowds. So we parked just across that scenic dam by the tea estates. We didn't write no song that day. But we did the next day....
