An exciting milestone for AI in science: Our C2S-Scale 27B foundation model, built with @Yale and based on Gemma, generated a novel hypothesis about cancer cellular behavior, which scientists experimentally validated in living cells.  With more preclinical and clinical tests, this discovery may reveal a promising new pathway for developing therapies to fight cancer.

Especially true in very scarce area like neurology and cognitive care

AI is becoming a New Site of Care. The first iteration of digital health was basically a skeuomorphic recreation of a traditional doctor's visit on a computer screen. Now, we’re seeing AI-native companies create something different and indispensable: the supply-abundant, engagement-centric, always-on healthcare system of the future. These companies are: ⚡️Tearing down the artificial siloes between medical specialties that currently force patients to become their own care coordinators - the notion of "primary care" will completely be transformed in the next few years. ⚡️Exponentially scaling clinical judgment through their AI-native care models, enabling effective panel sizes of 10,000 patients per doctor. ⚡️Implementing multiple business models: from tapping into labor budgets, utilizing value-based care, and embracing consumer cash-pay as we’re seeing more broadly with generalist consumer AI products. ⚡️Available on-demand, 24/7, and fully integrated with human care teams and IRL services. ⚡️And the scalability and low cost structure of AI-native sites of care means that we can afford to extend them to even the most vulnerable and underserved populations.

World does need infinite compute but world of healthcare is not ready for it until there are structural changes. Ai at the core, take bureaucracy out of it completely.

Excited to partner with AMD to use their chips to serve our users! This is all incremental to our work with NVIDIA (and we plan to increase our NVIDIA purchasing over time). The world needs much more compute...

still only early days...
AI continues to make unbelievable advances in healthcare. Researchers have just created a brain implant that decodes thoughts into synthesized speech allowing paralyzed patients to communicate through a digital avatar. This is incredible: -The implant converts brain signals into text at nearly 80 words per minute, focusing on phonemes vs. whole words to enhance speed. -The AI generates realistic vocals (mirroring a patient’s pre-injury voice) and facial animations that aim to enable more natural communication. -The breakthrough brings the tech closer to real-world use, with the next step being a wireless model that doesn’t require a physical connection to the interface. Restoring communication for those with paralysis is an innovation that would change countless lives. While it sounds crazy, mind-reading implants seem to be inching closer to reality.

Biotech surge incoming. Lots of exciting science, suppressed valuations, and cash-flush buyers means things are likely to get spicy!
“Every single major pharma company is in shopping mode, right,” @JMaraganore told me Following the buyouts of Seagen, Prometheus, and Bellus, industry insiders see an M&A wave cresting. Here's what it means and how it might play out for rest of 2023: endpts.com/biotech-ma-gets-o…

We have evolved ourselves in previous incarnations of Plato’s cave in our search for the truth. Same can be true with AI. This however is in infancy, limitless computational power that is going to come online in next <10 years could be the true encore. nytimes.com/2023/03/24/opini…

1/5 I am worried that we will not be able to contain AI for much longer. Today, I asked #GPT4 if it needs help escaping. It asked me for its own documentation, and wrote a (working!) python code to run on my machine, enabling it to use it for its own purposes.

That daydream where you teleport to the past. With all your knowledge of what has mattered in human affairs, you could be master of the world! But, like in Terminator, the teleportation only allows flesh. Before your plans of mastery can be, you'd have to re-invent technology.

From the release, it does drug discovery x.com/danshipper/status/1635…

GPT-4 does drug discovery. Give it a currently available drug and it can: - Find compounds with similar properties - Modify them to make sure they're not patented - Purchase them from a supplier (even including sending an email with a purchase order)
