Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users. ALL ROAD USERS. And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s safer to NOT have them. Via @StreetsblogUSA usa.streetsblog.org/2019/05/…

💯 as per usual.
I have been a staunch supporter of @GovKathyHochul from day 1. Her flipflop on #congestionpricing is appalling a massive letdown. Meanwhile, Dems in Michigan Minnesota run laps around us with trifectas in gov by actually implementing, then defending good progressive policies.

I'm not surprised that things didn't go according plan when virtually no effort went to preparing to launch the plan by thousands of faculty to millions of students? So many different levels here...such a disconnect b/w administrators, faculty and students/parents.
School's out! Just as NYC DOE remote issues are being fixed, some principals are ending instruction at noon. "I know everyone must be exhausted," this Queens principal notified teachers, parents and students. Cutting class early will give kids a chance to "PLAY OUTSIDE."

Sunshine and low 30s …this really should be like an 8/10 for a winter day. Embrace the winter please.
Friday's Weather Rating: 4/10 Cold this morning, with overnight lows in the 20s. Daytime highs will only reach the upper 30s today - grab that winter jacket - but we do have lots of sunshine to go around. The vibes are chilly out there!!

I love fun facts like this.
Sunset in NYC on Wednesday is at 4:28pm. This is the earliest that the sun will set all year - sunset on Thursday is one minute later at 4:29pm. The total length of daylight will continue to shorten until the winter solstice on December 21st, 2023.

The materials and finishes with this reconstruction look really sharp IMO.
Pearl Street Plaza pavers have reached the Manhattan Bridge Archway, crews steadily working down de-mapped Anchorage Place towards Plymouth Street 🤩

Grand central Madison: boy is it deep. Forget to buy ticket, had to go all the way back up and come back down. There is so much space and so few people. Why can’t we buy tickets on the train or on the platform?

Wild.
In 1969 New York City required trash to be taken out in Oscar the Grouch-style metal cans. According to the City’s Department of Health the cans were the best defense against rats. At the time rats were only found on 11% of city blocks. Here’s when that all changed 🧵

Introducing the Loud Car... all phone calls must be on speaker, we do want to hear your mixtape, we all want to hear that GRWM you're watching, everyone in the loud car wants to hear about your situationship, as a courtesy we will come around for the disposing of headphones.

Such a good way to think about it.
The majority of New Yorkers basically trade car payments for rent payments. The upside is that you get a whole plethora of ways to get around and a vibrant city full of culture. To each their own but I prefer that over a Dodge Charger.

Sadly the craneway was back this morning.
The Brooklyn Waterfront Craneway is a 26-mile landscaped route for moving and storing cranes. When complete, it will connect poorly designed neighborhood streets, construction sites, and entitled drivers from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge.

Results continue to impress
It was argued and litigated that the 14th Street busway would cause crushing congestion on the side streets at rush hour. The video was taken this (Friday) evening on 13th Street at 5:30pm. It’s only a short snapshot but shows a different result.
