Today, America failed. The US government let Islamic terrorists kidnap, torture, and execute a US citizen with impunity. They used the desperate parents of an American hostage as a prop in their vaudeville show designed to placate concerned Americans and win brownie points and votes, while doing nothing to actually free 23-year-old American, Hersh Goldberg-Polin. When did the US become so spineless? When did we start negotiating with terrorists? How have we lost our moral clarity? Since when is it ok to sit back as one of our own is tortured and murdered by terrorists? Who will be next? Will you, your child, your sibling be the next American left to suffer for months, in the hands of barbaric monsters only to be murdered in a dark tunnel as the US government cries crocodile tears from afar, doing nothing but profiting over your suffering? Will the president and vice president threaten an army trying to save you, telling them not to go into the region where you are being held because it fears losing votes from terrorist sympathizers? The next victim could be any American, not just a Jew. Islamic terrorists don't just operate in Israel. They are globalizing the intifada throughout Europe, Canada, and America, and the US government is letting them do it, saying "they have a point". Protecting Americans from terrorists should not be political, it should be a given. Unfortunately, the slaughter of Hersh Goldberg-Polin is just the canary in the coalmine, and I shudder to think what will come next. We are not safe.

Newsflash for the media: Hostages like Hersh Goldberg Polin did not just “die.” They were murdered by Hamas. Hostages like Noa Argamani were not just “released.” They were rescued by Israel. The rockets did not just “land” on Druze children and civilians. They were fired by Hezbollah. Words matter because the truth matters.

In October 2003, I walked up to the front door of my mosque in Morgantown, West By God Virginia, and the uncle at the door said: “Sister, take the back door.” I had to make a decision: do I accept the misogyny and sexism of interpretations of Islam by regressive men or fight for the Islam my parents taught me of grace, equal rights and women’s rights? Inside, what did I see and hear? ❌ A preacher and Egyptian student, Ahmed Elsherbeeny, mourning the death of Sheikh Ahmed Ismail Hassan Yassin, a Palestinian imam who FOUNDED Hamas. ❌ An engineering professor, Hany Ammar, pushing an academic boycott of Israel, while secretly marrying a second wife. When I asked his wife about men getting second wives, she said: at least they’re not having affairs. She said she wouldn’t go to the “kafir” court. Eventually, she did when the professor brought the wife over from Egypt and moved out. ❌ Sermons downloaded from Saudi, calling the Jews monkeys and pigs and demanding the destruction of the state of Israel. ❌ A white convert preacher, Yusuf Estes, who sanctioned the beating of disobedient wives with a yardstick or rolled up newspaper (like you use to train dogs). He’s still indoctrinating today. ❌ The @CAIRNational PR man, @ibrahimhooper, telling me they don’t help Muslim women fighting mosque sexism because they handle “American-Islamic” relations, not “Islamic-Islamic” relations. CAIR is now leading anti-Israel protests and founder @NihadAwad expressed joy over the Oct. 7 massacre. Hamas is #genderapartheid, and we must defeat gender apartheid in Muslim communities, so we can make normative an Islam of grace, peace and secular society.
