“They wanted destruction, we chose growth.”
Last week, residents of Shlomit, a desert community along Israel’s southern border, dedicated Be’er Shalom, a new synagogue that stands as both a place of prayer and everything this community has fought to protect.
On October 7, members of Shlomit’s emergency response team ran toward danger to defend nearby communities. Four of them, Bechor Sued, Aviyad Cohen, Uriel Bibi, and Reuven Shishportish, were killed in battle.
Their legacy lives on in what this community continues to build. Where there was an attempt to bring devastation, Shlomit responds with life and purpose.
