Best career advice that I can give: Don't ever attach yourself to a person, a place, a company, an organization or a project. Attach yourself to a mission, a calling, a purpose ONLY. That's how you keep your power & your peace. It's worked pretty well for me thus far.

"The Afro-futuristic lens [of Going to Mars] honors Giovanni’s complexity and transports us on a journey through Black liberation from the perspective of one of America’s most acclaimed and beloved writers, a profound artist and activist. Next stop, Mars."

Siiigh. Apparently my work email wasn't working for the past 2 days. I didn't notice for several reasons that don't really matter right now but the point is, if you sent me something important this week, may want to resend. Pls and thank you.
🤰🏾💖✨ Congrats @missewill // Grateful to be able to photograph this beautiful moment. I'm so happy for @missewill and my brother @AyindeSimon. I can't wait to meet my nephew. Uncle J got you! ❤️📸
This thread will be dedicated to the victims of the mass shooting in Buffalo.
This is Ruth Whitfield, 86. Her son, the former Buffalo Fire Commissioner, said she was on her way from visiting her husband in a nursing home and stopped at the store to get something to eat.
Watched “But If Not” during our devotional this a.m. & was reminded that true faith is standing strong even when unsure of the outcome.“Though” vs “if” faith is our challenge & the only real commitment to a higher law. Listen if you have the time. #MLKDayyoutu.be/pOjpaIO2seY
A friend tested FOUR times at DC urgent care (rapid PCR each of 2 visits). Days apart, certain he had covid due to symptoms & exposure. Each time they said he was negative. 13 days later, DC Health called to say the results were mixed up BOTH times & he had been positive.
Fortunately he used good judgement and decided to quarantine anyway despite multiple negatives. But the implications of the “mixup”…twice…are wild. My point: Behave w an abundance of caution. Health systems are overwhelmed and fallible. Pls exercise wisdom and care.
